Yura Yura Teikoku - Kudo desu.mp3: A Rock Album with a Psychedelic Twist

Yura Yura Teikoku (ããããåå) was a Japanese rock band that formed in 1989 and disbanded in 2010. They were known for their experimental and psychedelic sound, influenced by bands like The Velvet Underground, Can, and Neu!.

One of their most acclaimed albums was Kudo desu (çºæãã), released in 2007. The title means "It's hollow" in Japanese, and it reflects the band's nihilistic and surreal lyrics. The album features 10 songs that range from catchy pop-rock tunes to atmospheric and hypnotic tracks.

Some of the highlights of the album are:

Ohayo Mada Yaro (ãããããã ããã), which means "Good morning, let's do it again" in Japanese. It's a upbeat song with a catchy chorus and a distorted guitar solo.

Sweet Surrender, which is sung in English and has a dreamy and psychedelic vibe. It's about giving up on reality and escaping into a fantasy world.

Beautiful, which is also sung in English and has a video that features the band members dressed as animals. It's a melodic and romantic song with a catchy hook.

Hollow Me, which is the closing track of the album and the longest one. It's a slow and haunting song with minimal instrumentation and eerie vocals.

Kudo desu is a masterpiece of Japanese rock music that showcases the band's creativity and originality. It's a must-listen for fans of psychedelic rock and alternative music.

Yura Yura Teikoku was formed in 1989 by vocalist and guitarist Shintaro Sakamoto, bassist Chiyo Kamekawa, and drummer Ichiro Shibata. They started as a garage rock band that played covers of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. They gradually developed their own style of psychedelic rock, incorporating elements of krautrock, noise, folk, and pop.

The band released 12 studio albums, 3 live albums, and several EPs and singles during their career. They gained a cult following in Japan and abroad, especially among indie rock fans and critics. They were also known for their eccentric and humorous live performances, which often featured costumes, props, and improvisation.

In 2010, the band announced their breakup, citing creative differences and personal reasons. They played their final show on December 31, 2010 at the Tokyo Dome City Hall. Since then, the band members have pursued solo projects or collaborations with other artists.

Yura Yura Teikoku left behind a legacy of innovative and influential music that challenged the boundaries of rock and psychedelia. They are widely regarded as one of the best and most original Japanese rock bands of all time.

One of the reasons why Yura Yura Teikoku was so unique and innovative was their leader and songwriter, Shintaro Sakamoto. Sakamoto was a self-taught musician who had a keen sense of melody and harmony. He also had a distinctive voice that could range from soft and gentle to loud and distorted. He wrote lyrics that were often surreal, absurd, or ironic, reflecting his worldview and sense of humor.

Sakamoto was also a prolific and versatile artist who experimented with different genres and styles. He was influenced by various artists, such as Bob Dylan, Brian Eno, Serge Gainsbourg, and Os Mutantes. He also incorporated elements of Japanese folk music, such as enka and min'yo, into his songs. He played various instruments, such as guitar, keyboard, harmonica, flute, and sitar.

After the breakup of Yura Yura Teikoku, Sakamoto launched his solo career in 2012 with the album How to Live with a Phantom. The album was a departure from his previous rock sound, featuring more acoustic and tropical influences. He has since released three more solo albums: Let's Dance Raw (2014), Love If Possible (2016), and The Feeling of Love (2020). He has also collaborated with artist
